My wheel is in the dark!
I cannot see a spoke
Yet know its dripping feet
Go round and round.

My foot is on the Tide!
An unfrequented road —
Yet have all roads
A clearing at the end —

Some have resigned the Loom —
Some in the busy tomb
Find quaint employ —
Some with new — stately feet —

Pass royal through the gate —
Flinging the problem back
At you and I!

Ma Roue est dans l’obscurité !
Je n’en peux pas voir de rayon
Et pourtant ses pieds ruisselants
Sais qu’ils tournent en rond.

Mon pied est sur l’Inondation !
Bien peu empruntent ce chemin –
Et pourtant tous les chemins ont
Un débouché enfin –

À Ourdir tels ont renoncé –
D’autres au caveau affairé
Bien drôlement s’emploient –
Tels sur pieds neufs – marche posée –

Passent la porte en royautés –
Et le problème est refilé
À nous, à toi et moi !
